Frank Tashlin , born Francis Fredrick von Taschlein (February 19th, 1913 - May 5th, 1972) is a cartoonist, Scénariste and American Réalisateur.

Cinema of animation

From 1930, it starts to work for Paul Terry as draftsman on the animated series Aesop' S Film Fables , then briefly for Amadee J. Van Beuren. It joined then the studios of Leon Schlesinger with the Warner Bros. In 1934 it creates the comic strip Van Boring inspired of the character of its former owner Van Beuren. It connects with Tish Tash . It joined then the studios of Ub Iwerks then passes to Hal Roach as scenario writer in 1935. It turns over to Schlesinger in 1936 like film producer of animation.

In 1938 he works for Walt Disney, at the department scenarios. From 1941 he exerts like person in charge of production at Screen Gems, the branch animation of Columbia Pictures. Tashlin joined in 1943 the Termite Terrace of Warner. It remains with the studio during the second world war where it works on many courts of which the Private Snafu educational films .

Realizer

Tashlin leaves animation in 1944 (it will briefly go back there in the years 1960, producing The Bear that Wasn' T , of Chuck Jones for MGM), it becomes gagman for the Marx Brothers and Lucille Ball while writing scenarios. Its films are always impressed elements resulting from its past of cartoonist. He writes films for Bob Hope and Red Skelton.

In 1956 it carries out the Blonde and me ( The Girl Can' T Help It ), satirical comedy around the incipient rockn' roll, then confirms its success with: a true nut of cinema ( Hollywood gold Bust - 1956) where one finds the duet Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin, then the explosive Blonde ( Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? - 1957). During years 1960, the films of Tashlin lose of their glare. It makes a last film in 1968, the Navy in madness ( The Private Navy off Sgt. O' Farrel ) with Bob Hope and Phyllis Diller.
