Frank McCourt

Francis “Frank” McCourt , born the August 19th 1930 with Brooklyn, is teaching and writer américano-Irish.

Biography

McCourt is born in Brooklyn and grows with Limerick, in Ireland. When it is still young, it loses a sister and two brothers. McCourt is only 12 years old when his/her father, alcoholic, leave his family. After its departure of the school at the 13 years age, Frank McCourt alternates between delinquency and small employment in order to nourish him, his/her mother, like her three surviving brothers, Malachy, Michael and Alphonsus. 19 years old, it goes back to the United States and obtains a diploma at the University of New York. After obtaining sound master at the University of Brooklyn in 1958, it teaches the English with the colleges McKee and Stuyvesant in New York City, where he becomes member of the American Federation of the teachers.

In 1996, it receives the National Book Critics Award, then the Prix Pulitzer the following year for its autobiographical account Ashes of Angela , account which details its poor catholic Irishman childhood with Limerick. He is also the author of It is how America? , which continues the account of its life taking again the end of the book preceding and being focused on its life as a new immigrant in the United States. Its last but one titrates, Teacher Man , tells the challenges which the fact comprises of being a young still inexperienced teacher who must transmit his knowledge to his pupils. Its work often milked with the programs given in the colleges. In 2002 it is rewarded for a diploma of honor by University off Ontario Western.

His/her brother, Malachy McCourt, former radio presenter, are him also writer autobiographer. It is together that they create has Couple Blaguards off, a part with two votes which speak about their lives and experiments.

Frank McCourt is member of the National Arts Club. He lives between New York and Connecticut with his Ellen wife. He has a girl, Maggie of a first marriage, and a fore-mentioned little girl Chiara.
