Frank Gehry
Frank Owen Gehry , born Frank Owen Goldberg the February 28th 1929 with Toronto, is a Architecte américano - Canadian.
Biography
Frank O. Gehry is born in a family of Polish Jewish origin, of a father in the trade of materials and of a mother music lover, this filiation nourishes the sensitivity of the character. The Frank young person moves during his adolescence with Timmins in the Ontario where his/her schoolmates call it “ Fish ” (fish). He changes his name of Frank Owen Goldberg for that of Frank Owen Gehry into 1954. He studied with the the University of California of the South (USC) to Los Angeles (1949 - 54) and in Graduate School off Design of Harvard (1956 - 57).Coldly graduate of architecture of the university of Los Angeles, he côtoie painters and sculptors and discover the European culture (Romance churches with Le Corbusier), which he opposes to a Californian architecture without respect for the environment. Years later, it will summarize: “I was a committed liberal and I liked art, and these two joined together facts made ego an architect. ”
He works in many agencies, that of Welton Becket & Associates (1957 - 58) and Victor Gruen (Originator of great shopping malls, in 1958 - 61) in Los Angeles like at André Remondet (1961) with Paris. Then it created its agency, Frank O. Gehry and Associates, Inc., in Los Angeles in 1962. It obtained the Prix Pritzker in 1989.
Frank O. Gehry has many ambitions, in particular in the town of Tokyo, where it intends to carry out the design many buildings which will change the general pace of the city.
