Frank Frazetta

Frank Frazetta (born the February 9th 1928) is one of the American artists most influential of the Science-fiction.

Biography

It began as draftsman from comic strips , but it is its Iconographie muscular heroes, among whom Conan the Barbarian, who made date; it inspired by the generations of teenagers.

Born in 1928 in Brooklyn, Frank Frazetta becomes in 1944 the assistant of John Giunta on " Snowman". In 1946, for the Pines editions, it animates " Funny Animals" while working for Prize, Fiction House, Haddock, Standard, and much of other editors. Then, for Fawcett, it creates " Arrow" golden delicious; , and leaves then to cd. with the title " Shinning Knight". In 1949, its collaboration starts, at Toby, with Al Williamson on a comic devoted to John Wayne. In 1951, at Enterprise Magazine, appears its first great series, " White Indian" , that it gives up as of the following year for lancer" Thunga off the Congo" on texts of Gardner Fox. For McNaught Syndicate, it carries out the strip " Johnny Comet" initially with Earl Boldwin, then with Peter de Paolo.

After having worked all the year 1953 on " Flash Gordon " with daN Barry, he becomes the Al Cape assistant on " It Abner" , collaboration which will last nine years. 1962 see the beginning of its career of illustrator: it delivers drawings to " Play-Boy" , " Gent" , " Duke" inter alia, and from 1964 with the reviews of Jim Warren. He will continue still a little the production of comics with famous names like " Buck Rogers ", " Conan the barbare" or " Vampirella ", series to which it brings its talent of recognized draftsman.

If it still signs its last data base in the first number of " Creepy" , it almost completely gives up the kind for the illustration and the painting which several collections left.

The Death Dealer is an icon which had so much success which it was illustrated several times because of its popularity near the public of Frazetta which adulated this dark warrior, and the character was itself Romancé.

Moreover, many artists younger than to him were influenced not its art and created the style of illustration heroic fantasy .
