Frank Brimsek

Francis Charles Brimsek (born on September 6th, 1913 with Eveleth with the Minnesota with the the United States - deceased on November 11th, 1998) was a professional goalkeeper of Hockey.

Career in club

It begins its career in the university championship while playing with the St Cloud State Huskies in 1933 then joined the Yellow Jackets de Pittsburgh from the in [[Eastern Hockey League]] of 1934 to 1937. At the time of its first season, it gains 14 of the 16 matches which it plays. In 1935-36, it gains 20 matches and carries out 8 Blanchissage S. Sélectionné within the standard team of the season, it joined later the Reds de Providence of the in [[American League of hockey International American Hockey Leagues]] two seasons.

For its first season in the LAH in 1937-38, its team gains the Coupe Calder and he plays 48 of the matches of the season with an average of 1,7 goals boxed by match. Benefitting from the wound of Tiny Thompson, guard number one of the Bruins of Boston of the National league of hockey, it signs a contract with Bruins on October 27th 1938.

Over its 43 matches which he plays, he gains 33 and is the best guard on the level of washings. He also plays the twelve matches of his team at the time of the eliminatory Séries and gains the Coupe Stanley. He also gains this season the title of better recruit and the Trophée Calder going with as well as the Trophée Vézina of the best guard. He also gains the nickname of “ in Mr. Zero ”.

He gains once again the Stanley Cut in 1941 and two seasons later, he puts a pause at his career being called within the army for the Second world war. He returns to the play in 1945-46 and on September 8th 1949, he is sold with the Blackhawks of Chicago with which he plays his last professional season.

It puts an end to its career after having played more: 31000 minutes of play and to have played nine seasons with at least 20 victories. It also carried out 40 Blanchissage S during its career in the LNH and was selected on several occasions in the standard teams of the seasons.

After career

In 1966, it allowed with the Temple of is re-elected hockey. He is then the first American player to be allowed there.

In 1973, the temple of re-elected American hockey also makes him the honor admit it in its center, the temple being located in its birthplace. In 1998, the magazine in [[The News Hockey]] carried out the classification of the best hockey players of all times and Brimsek appears there as a 67e player. He dies a few months later, on November 11th, 1998.

In spite of its successes and its career with Bruins, the organization forever withdrawn its shirt, number 1, also carried by Thompson or forever honoured their number. To the Minnesota, a trophy bearing its name is given to the best guard university hope
