SuperTux is a free Video game free and . It is a clone of Super Mario Bros. . This Jeu of platform puts in scene Tux, the mascot of Linux. The play proceeds on the ice-barrier or in caves of ice. The mushrooms of Mario are replaced by eggs of penguin, the additional lives into small penguins and at the end, the arrival in an igloo.

Milestone 1

The Milestone 1 (what could result in " first étape") did SuperTux leave in 2005 ( exact date? ) under the number of version 0.1.0. Several updates were brought thereafter: versions 0.1.1, 0.1.2 and 0.1.3.

It puts in scene ten monsters (of which snowballs on legs, of the bombs or jumping fish) like 26 levels (more of the levels no-claims bonus). Graphics simple and are coloured, giving a strong identity to the play. Various no-claims bonus are dispersed through the levels. The penguin can increase by size, by gobant an egg. The flower of the ices allows, following the example that of Super Mario Bros , of launching fireballs to the adversaries.

The goal of the play is to go to deliver Penny that appalling Nolok captured at the time of a Pique-nique with Tux. This one, being disappeared, finds a letter explaining why his/her friend was locked up in the castle of Nolok. The way until Penny is sown traps, but Tux, determined to save its beloved, leaves immediately to the adventure. Milestone 1 finishes after the castle of Nolok, where Tux finds a word indicating to him to continue its search to find Penny, which calls in Milestone 2.

Milestone 1.9

The Milestone 1.9 (version 0.3.0) left on December 17th, 2006. This new version, available to date for Linux and Windows, includes/understands new enemies, a new environment made up of more than one score of levels: the forest, a boss on the first island, as well as many additions in the interaction between Tux and the world which surrounds it: trampolines, levers, elevators, managed by scripts. One will appreciate the possibility of retrogressing in the levels, as well as a throw of fireballs in mode easier Ice Flower and more precis. However, this new version suffers from a severe fall of jouability: the precision of the character, in particular at the time of the jumps, is very approximate. The resolution, higher will be also deplored, which makes the character too small.

Concerning the code, the engine of the play was almost entirely rewritten. It uses from now on OpenGL for graphic material acceleration and OpenAL for the sound.

No date is officially announced for Milestone 2. The developers decided to leave Milestone 1.9 in order to encourage people to take part. They seek in particular graphic designers and developers wishing to contribute their share.
