Franconie

Franconie is a geographical and historical area center of the Germany. It is located for its major part in north of the Bavaria, where it corresponds to the administrative areas ( Regierungsbezirke ) of Low-Franconie Average-Franconie ( Mittelfranken ), ( Unterfranken ) and High-Franconie ( Oberfranken ).

Gastronomy

Franconie is at the same time an wine-producing area (the Frankenwein ) and large producing of beers. The principal specialities are:

Karpfen blau or gebacken (carpus with blue or the furnace)
Sauerbraten (ox braised with a bitter-sweet sauce and been useful with red cabbage. The meal is often accompanied by cold by cranberries. To sauce one adds a kind of gingerbread.)

Many strong castles and medieval masonries are connected by the Road of the Strong Castles which entirely crosses Franconie.

The area offers multiple sports activities to the holiday makers. Above all, the Frankenalb , the Fichtelgebirge , the Fränkische Schweiz and the Steigerwald are crossed by many hiking trails. Rivers, like the Pegnitz or Wiesent are regularly attended by canoeists. A network of cycle tracks was created along some rivers, such as for example the Main or the Tauber . Concerning the climbing of rock, the Fränkische Schweiz account among the most popular areas of Germany.
