Francoise Heir

Francoise Heir , born in 1933, is a French Anthropologue. It succeeds Claude Lévi-Strauss with the Collège de France, inaugurating its own pulpit consequently.

Successor of the father of the Structuralism anthropological French, it deepens the Theory of exchange and that of the Prohibition of the inceste , established commonly on the concept of circulation of the women.

Francoise Héritier advances the concept of the " identique" and of its " frustration répulsive" , consequently taking again the approaches of Lévi-Strauss and that of English Radcliffe-Brown.

Francoise Héritier will be based above all on the concepts of " nature" and d'" environnement" in the designs of the studied companies.

Its successor with the pulpit of Anthropology is the current holder, Philippe Descola.

It is member of the committee of sponsorship of the French Coordination for the Decade of the culture of peace and non-violence. It supports, since its creation in 2001, the funds associative Non-Violence XXI.

It is one of the personalities at the origin of the creation of the television channel Arte.
