The FrancoFolies of Montreal , founded in 1989, is a Festival of the French-speaking Chanson which is held annually with Montreal.

Description

The mission of the festival is “to promote the Chanson French expression, to support its diffusion and to stimulate the circulation of the artists of all the Francophonie”.

The festival has spectacles of French-speaking artists of various musical horizons and various nationalities. It introduces well-known artists, artists of the hour, just like of the rising figures. It offers free and paying spectacles.

Today, it is especially covered by Western Journaliste S . For example, Paris Première , France 3 , Le Figaro , Deutschlandradio , the Toronto Star and RFI . The latter, on its Web site, from day to day follows the edition 2006 with texts, images and sounds, which attests importance of the event.

History

It was founded in 1989 by Jean-Louis Foulquier, founder of the Francofolies of the La Rochelle, Alain Simard, founder of the International festival of Jazz of Montreal (FIJM) and Guy Latraverse.

In 1989, the festival affirms that approximately 5  000 people saw about fifteen spectacles. In 2003, the festival was prided to have offered approximately 200 spectacles, which would have seen approximately 800  000 people. In fifteen years, the custom thus increased notably.
