The Franco-Spanish company of the railroad of Tangier with Fès is an old international private company entered the formation of ONCF. Its origins go back to the Franco-German agreement of November 4th, 1911, which requires that the priority be given to the construction of the line Tangier - Fès before any other construction of line in public matter in Morocco.
The creation of the company
French diplomats and Spanish conclude a first protocol on November 27th, 1912. The future company will have an international character, the capital being distributes to a total value of 60% for France and 40% for Spain. According to negotiations fix then ds quotas of nationalities for the future board of directors and even for the personnel, the countable rules being quite as complex… On the 315 kilometers of the course, 18 will be carried out in international zone tangeroise, 93 in Spanish zone, and 204 in French zone.
Convention granting the concession of the line finally is signed by the sultan on March 18th, 1914, after being sanctioned by French and Spanish laws. It is allocated to a consortium formed by the general Compagnie of Morocco and the general Compañia española of Africa. It should however be waited on June 26th, 1916 so that these two companies create the
Franco-Spanish Compagnie of the railroad of Tangier with Fès .
Construction
Stopped by the war, work begins again timidly in 1919, then at normal intervals in 1921. The crossed areas are rather not very broken, and construction does not raise major difficulties.
