Franco-Soviet treaty of mutual assistance (May 2nd, 1935)
The president of the French Republic and the executive Central committee of the Union of the socialist republics Soviet, animated desire to strengthen peace in Europe and to guarantee the benefits with their respective countries of them by more completely ensuring the exact application of the provisions of the pact of the Company of the Nations aiming at maintaining the national security, the territorial integrity and the political independence of the States, decided to devote their efforts to the preparation and the concluding of a European agreement having this object and, while waiting, to contribute, as far as it depends on them with the effective application of the provisions of the pact of the Société of the Nations, solved to conclude a treaty for this purpose and indicated for their plenipotentiary, knowledge:
