Franco-German friendship

The Franco-German friendship is a notion of the diplomatic relations free - German born from the continuations of the Second world war, third conflict in less than one century between France and Germany. To avoid a new war, efforts of bringing together were to be made.

It thus developed in parallel with the European Union, the Franco-German couple having always been the engine of the European construction. The Treated of the Elysium, in 1963, officialized this bringing together.

History

In 1963, the President Charles de Gaulle and the Chancelier Konrad Adenauer sign the Traité of the Elysium so that the Franco-German co-operation becomes a daily reality. Since much of City S, of school S, areas, of Université S are Jumelée S. Since 1963, the Franco-German Office for youth (OFAJ) offers to million young people the chance to take part in exchanges.

The Franco-German couple was always the engine of the European construction.
