History
The Franco-German colleges were created by the Traité of the Elysium, sign the January 22nd 1963 by the French president Charles de Gaulle and the German chancellor Konrad Adenauer. This treaty constitutes the base of an important project between Germany and France. It does not apply only to the political arenas, but also to the cultural field. Indeed, the two countries urge each one to develop the language teaching of the partner. The Franco-German schools constitute the result of this common work. With the creation of the Franco-German baccalaureat, the February 10th 1972, the project of the Franco-German schools is finally concretized. After the successive foundations of the schools of Saarbruck (1961) and of Freiburg (1972), it is in 1975 that France created its own Franco-German college with Buc.
