Franco-German Parliament of the young people
The Franco-German Parlement of the young people is an initiative taken at the time of the 40e birthday of the Traité of the Elysium, under the supervision of OFAJ. 250 French high-school pupils and 250 German high-school pupils were invited to Berlin to complete a deliberation similar to that of the members of Parliament. The participants arrived at Berlin Friday January 17th 2003. The following day the meeting of opening take place to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt , " House of the culture mondiale". Of course the interventions were the subject of a Simultaneous translation. Other conferences took place in the same building during the day, in particular to present the course of work.
The young people were divided into commissions (allotted as much as possible following their wishes), each commission having to work in a paragraph of resolution to write the total resolution which would be adopted by the Parliament of the young people. On the 15 commissions, the paragraphs proposed by 12 of them were adopted by the Parliament of the young people, the Commission proposals " External businesses and défense" , " Internal security and sécurité" and " Businesses européennes" being rejected. To note that the proposal of a chart simplifying the refunding of the medical expenses for the travellers corresponded to the project of chart replacing the E-111 certificate, installation since.
The final declaration also comprised a paragraph pleading for the renewal of this initiative, which did not take place however.
The French president Jacques Chirac and the German chancellor Gerhard Schröder invited the young people with the chancellery on January 23rd to discuss their work, and to compare it with that carried out in parallel by the traditional parliamentary rooms.
Throughout the events, cultural activities were organized. The young people were invited to a reception with the German ministry of the foreign affairs as well as to various concerts.
