Franck Venaille (born with Paris in 1936) is a French poet and writer. Its poetry is characterized by its expressive power, seeking to emphasize the animal share of the man, his impulses and its anguishes.
Born in a catholic family, in the XIème district of Paris, Franck Venaille will be durably marked by his military service during which it takes part in the Guerre of Algeria. This test re-appears by far in far in its poetry, until in its latest collections. It forms the explicit matter of the War of Algeria (1978) and Algeria (2004).
In its childhood, it accomplishes a three months stay in Belgium, at the origin of a major attraction for the Flemish country . This last constitutes the recurring innermost depth of its poetry, in particular of its major work, the descent of the the Scheldt (1995).
Franck Venaille is close to the painters Peter Klasen and Jacques Monory, which exerted a notable influence on its work. He collaborates in the poetic review Action (years 1960) and in Orange Export Ltd (years 1980). He also created the reviews Chorus (1968) and Mr Bloom (1978). From 1974, he works for France Culture, collaborating in particular in the emission the Magnetic Nights .
He obtained many prices, in particular the price Mallarmé in 1996 for the descent of the Scheldt .
