Francis Simard (1947 with Valley-Paradise, Quebec) is a former militant of the Front of release of Quebec.
It militates in the Rassemblement for national independence and the Parti Québécois before being implied in the Front of release of Quebec. It belonged to the Cellule of financing Chénier of the FLQ which removed, sequestered and assassinated the minister Pierre Laporte at the time of the Crise of October 1970.
Condemned to the life imprisonment in 1971, it is released under condition in 1982. He reported the events of October in his book to finish some with October , which the scenario writer Pierre Falardeau for his film October took as a starting point. Simard also collaborated in the film the Party of Falardeau and in the scenario of the film Freedom in anger of Jean-Daniel Lafond.
