Influential intellectual, very known for his theses on the Fine of the history, Francis Fukuyama is currently professor of political economy international with KNOW (Johns-Hopkins University) at Washington DC.
Political ideasThe political ideas of Fukuyama moved away from those of the Néo-conservatives. It took an active part in the Projet for the new American century, launched in 1997. It signed a petition recommending to President Bill Clinton to reverse the Iraqi dictator well Saddam Hussein before George W. Bush does not take care in 2003 of it. He however disapproved the invasion of Iraq in his principle and such as it was carried out, and called with the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld secretariat with Defense. That did not prevent it, in 2004, from serving the Bush administration as a member of the presidential Conseil of bioethics. He recommends today in international relations the promotion of the democracy by the Soft power and announces the great return of the realistic after the departure of George W. Bush.
End of the historyThe concept of Fin of the history had initially been imagined by Hegel and taken again in various ways by several philosophers, Karl Marx in particular. For Fukuyama as for Hegel, the History will be completed the day when a universal consensus on the democracy will put a final point at the ideological conflicts.
Fukuyama published a first article on the subject (“The end off History”) during the summer 1989 in the review The National Interest (article included in the French review Commentaire n° 47, autumn 1989). It develops of them the theses in a discussed book published in 1992: End of the History and the last man , in whom it defends the idea that the progression of the human history, under consideration like a combat between Idéologie S, touches at its end with the consensus on the liberal Démocratie which would tend to be formed after the end of the Cold war.
La Fine of the hommeIn the End of the man , Fukuyama expresses its concerns vis-a-vis progress of the Biotechnologies and in particular of their possible applications on the human being. Because they will be able to transform the man with an unsuspected degree hitherto, they are likely to have extremely serious consequences on the political system.
