Sir Francis Chichester , navigator British, was born the September 17th 1901. He is the son of Pasteur. First of all interested by the Aviation, he discovers his passion only in 1950: the veil.

To old 65 years it leaves for a round the world tour as a recluse. Its objective is to beat the speed records of large the Clipper S of the 19th century. With its return, Elisabeth II the anoblit with the sword that Sir Francis Drake had put at the service of the queen Elisabeth I {{Re}}.

In 1972, it engages again in the English Transatlantic race, on Gipsy Moth 4 . At 71 years, it is constrained to give up off Spain.

He dies in August of the same year with Plymouth.
