Biography
Wire of a guard of headlight, Francis Borelli is born with the Hold, in Algeria. His/her father is then transferred to Madhia in Tunisia. He then becomes the player high-speed motorboat of the football club of the Patriot of Sousse. Junior, it plays outclassed as a junior, then junior, it plays outclassed as a senior.
Francis Borelli carries out its military service in Paris region and plays with the team reserves Red Star. Demobilized, it decides to remain in Paris where it makes all kinds of small trades. It is discouraged and returned to Tunisia at the time when the war bursts. Remobilisé, it carries out its time while playing for the Patriot of Sousse. Once demobilized, he becomes intendant with the Company of oils of Tunisia while continuing his sporting career for the Patriot.
Francis Borelli returns then to Metropolitan France and obtains a contract with the team reserves ACE Cannes. Conscious that he will be never a very large player, he prefers to leave the club and to join Paris where he makes, once again, of the odd jobs. In the capital, it meets Henri Sidélio who introduces it into the world of the edition. Borelli assembles its own publisher specialized in the plates and the directories. It is based on its natural facundity to make thrive its company and evolve/move its professional life.
It joined the famous " gang of the pink shirts " , which includes/understands the dressmaker Daniel Hechter like Jean-Paul Belmondo, Charles Gerard, Charles Talar, Alain Cayzac or Bernard Brochand. In June 1973, the " gang" the club begins again which has just been promoted in Division 2.
The January 6th 1978, following the scandal of the double ticketting of the PSG, Daniel Hechter is dislocated of his position of president by the FF and the January 9th, Francis Borelli is elected president by the committee of the club.
During its thirteen years with the head of the PSG, the Parisian club gains its first major trophies: two cuts of France (1982 and 1983) and a championship of France (1986). The image of Borelli embracing the lawn of the Park of the Princes after the equalization of Dominique Rocheteau in the utimes seconds of the finale of the Coupe de France 1982 (the PSG, will carry it with the shooting-with-goals), remains in all the memories.
During second half of the Years 1980, Francis Borelli resists the attacks of the Matra Racing of Jean-Luc Lagardere whose priority is to become the club leader with Paris. Lagardere throws finally sponge in 1990. The PSG preserved certainly its leadership in the capital, but to face the national competition of clubs like Marseilles or Bordeaux, the club has an urgent need of financial means to cover its debts and to invest. Francis Borelli thus passes the hand to Canal+ in May 1991.
Thereafter, he becomes president of the ACE Cannes, where it remains in station of 1992 with 1996. He attends in particular the blossoming of two young trained players with the club, Zinedine Zidane and Patrick Viera.
Francis Borelli is deceased in the the Essonne the October 2nd 2007 of the continuations of a long illness. Two minutes of silence are observed at the time of match PSG- Rennes of the October 6th 2007.
Quotations
" The goal of Rocheteau, it is the most intense moment of my life. I did not believe in it any more. It was cooked, to joke, I said to people beside me: “one cannot not equalize! ”. And then Rocheteau marked… It was the delivery! The outburst of joy! Unthinkable… Then, I embraced the lawn, this blessed ground of the Park, to thank the sky… like the Moslems whom I saw in Tunisia, which embraced the ground to thank their Dieu." (Francis Borelli, after the first victory of the PSG in Coupe de France in 1982)
" It is my Love, it is my passion. All that comes from Paris Saint-Germain enchants me. I want almost to say to you that I am often sad. I knew moments marvellous, extraordinary, but it is true that there I feel a little badly at ease because I can that never again I will be able to work, amuse me, to live with PSG" (Francis Borelli, in 1999).
" Fine expert of the footballer, in love with the colors red and blue, Francis Borelli will leave an imperishable memory with all those which knew it and to all in love ones with the club" (Alain Cayzac).
" There will remain especially an emblematic figure of the PSG. In addition to the president, I discovered a man delicious, fabulous, very generous, with a love of life which irradiated around him. It always had a word to laugh, to relax, to help those which were sometimes in difficulty in the club". (Carboniferous Gerard, current DTN, trainer of the PSG in 1986, the year of the title).
