Franceville

Franceville , one of the four plus big cities of the Gabon. The city counts a population of approximately 22.000 inhabitants. She is located on the Mpassa river and at the terminus of the Transgabonais and the trunk road N3. It is the chief town of the province of the Haut-Ogooué.

Origin of the name

The village of origin was called Masuku. It was renamed " Franceville" by Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza in 1880, which gathered the slaves there that it had initially repurchased with their owners, and that it had made release in their making touch the French flag.
