Francesco da Sangallo “ Giamberti ” (1494-1576) is a sculptor of the late Rebirth of the school florentine, the son of the architect and sculptor Giuliano da Sangallo and the small son of Francesco Giamberti, carpenter of Cosme de Médicis.
Raise Andrea Sansovino, it is distinguished from its Master for the titanism of Michel-Angel. The oldest sculpture which is allotted to him is the Vergine idiot Bambino E Sant' Anna , which decorates a furnace bridge with the church Orsanmichele with Florence.
He works at the building site of the Basilique Saint-Pierre of the the Vatican in Rome, while becoming project superintendent in 1542 and the following year one of those of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, where he contributes to the realization of the marble ground.
Among his sculptures one will notice two votive statues out of marble, his self-portrait and the portrait of Francesco del Fede (1575) with the church Santa Maria Primerana with Fiesole (1542), the monument of the tomb of the bishop of Like Paolo Giovio with the cloister of San Lorenzo and the effigy of the bishop Leonardo Bonafede on the pavement of the church of the Chartreuse de Galluzzo ( Certosa di Firenze ).
