Francesco Trevisani

Francesco Trevisani (Capodistria, April 9th, 1656 - Rome, July 30th, 1746) is an Italian painter Rococo which was active in Rome.

Biography

Raise with Venice Antonio Zanchi, it leaves, in 1678, in Rome where it will pass all his career.

Its mentor is the Venetian cardinal Pietro Ottoboni, nephew of Alexandre VIII, one of the most important patrons of the moment which protects the young person Filippo Juvarra and some type-setters like Arcangelo Corelli, Alexandre Scarlatti and Georg Friedrich Händel.

In Rome, it becomes one of the most important artists who continued in the wake of Carlo Maratta.

The painter (who was also poet) was affiliated with Accademia dell' Arcadia.

Among his pupils, one notes Francesco Civalli Perugino, Cav. Lodovico Mazzanti and Giovanni Batista Bruglii.
