Franco (or Francesco) Petracchi is famous a Contrebassiste, Compositeur and Leader Italy N, born with Pistoia (Toscane) the September 22nd 1937.

Biography

At the 13 years age, it profits from a purse to study with the Academy Santa Cecilia, with Rome. During 7 years, it will study in a boarding school especially reserved to the most gifted pupils. The objective of this teaching is to form the artistic elite with the more high level, as well in Italy as on the international plan.

Free Petracchi studied the Contrebasse with Batistelli (raises of Mengoli). He studies at the same time the Piano, the Composition and the Direction of orchestra with Franco Ferrara. To 19 years, it passes its four diplomas successfully, begins a career of international soloist and becomes successively double bass player solo of the majority of the best orchestras of Italy.

He was professor with the Academy of Bari, at the time where Nino Rota was the director. Nino Rota dedicated an original composition to him, " Concerting Divertimento per contrabasso E orchestra". Free Petacchi was also professor with the Academy Santa Cecilia in Rome, Fiesole, Crémone, and finally at the High Music school of the Higher Academy of Music of Geneva, where he teaches still today.
