Francesco II Ordelaffi , (??? - died in 1374) is noble Italian who lived at the 13th century, it belongs to the family of the Ordelaffi of the town of Forli.
He is lord of Forlì, of 1331 with 1359.
Wire of Sinibaldo Ordelaffi, small son of Teobaldo Ordelaffi and Onestina dei Calboli, he is the brother of Scarpetta and Francesco I.
The family Ordelaffi supported the faction gibeline and the Calboli family supported the faction guelfe.
He married Marzia degli Ubaldini, known as “the CIA” and he supported permanently the party gibelin.
He starts has to control Forli with his uncle Francesco I until they are both expelled of the city by the papal armies in 1332 and which they preserve only the seigniory of Forlimpopoli. However it succeeds in taking again its title quickly while becoming the chief Gibelin of Romagna
In 1337 the weather is captive the archbishop of Ravenne and is then excommunicated by the pope Benoit XIII. Its estrangement with the pope finishes with his advantage because it is named, in 1338 pontifical vicar of Forli, Cesena and Forlimpopoli in exchange of an annual tribute. It is again excommunicated when it takes later the party of the emperor Louis IV of Bavaria not to more have to pay the tribute. To clearly indicate the camp which it chose, it succeeds in obtaining the title of imperial vicar.
In 1347-1348 it lodges Boccace, which attends, meadows of him, the poets Nereo Morandi and Francesco Miletto of Rossi, known as “Checco”, with which it will maintain then a correspondence friendly.
In 1350 it conquers Bertinoro, Meldola, Fontanafredda and Giaggiolo but it sees to be opposed to him the cardinal Albornoz, helped of the Malatesta of Rimini.
He remains lord of Forli until his defeat in 1359 in front of the pontifical armies directed by the cardinal Albornoz after a strong resistance, during which his wife “the CIA” and her Ludovico son defend the castle of Cesena. Forli fell to the hands from the pontifical armies on July 4th 1359
It then had to be satisfied with the title of Vicaire of Forlimpopoli and Castrocaro.
Later, it fights for Barnabé Visconti against the armies of the pope and tries without success to take again Forli.
