Francesco III Crispo
Francesco III Crispo , Duke of Naxos (1500? - 1518).
He was proclaimed duke after a short Venetian protectorate , in 1500.
The most current version concerning its reign is that it was without particular event; except the capture of the Duke whereas it was with hunting in 1517 by an Othoman raid.
Another version is developed by William Miller, starting from sources of time. Francesco would have been insane. The first signs of its disease would have appeared about 1509, at one moment when it was with his brother-in-law, Antonio Loredano, with Trieste. It was then locked up in San Michele di Murano. It however was released and authorized to regain its duchy cycladic where it would have made a relapse. He would have assassinated his wife, Taddea Loredano, on August 17th, 1510, after having continued it until in the aunt of this one, Lucrezia Loredano. He then tried to flee with Rhodos, but would have been captured and sent to Santorin. His/her son, Giovanni IV was proclaimed duke. But, it did not have whereas eleven years. Regency was entrusted to Giacomo I Gozzadini, appointed “governor”, gentleman of Kéa, owner of a manor with Naxos and which had already been “governor” in 1507. Francesco was moved of Santorin with Candie where he would have died on August 15th, 1511. His/her brother-in-law Antonio Loredano was then named “governor” by Sérénissime, with wages of 400 Ducat S annual. Antonio Loredano controlled until July 1515. The sources do not indicate which was governor between this date and the majority of Giovanni IV.
