Francesco Geminiani
Francesco Geminiani , born the December 5th 1687 with Lucques and dead the September 17th 1762 with Dublin, is a Violoniste and Compositeur Italy N.
Biography
It receives its first musical lessons of his father and improves his play of Violon at Carlo Ambrogio Lonati with Milan, near Arcangelo Corelli with Rome and Alessandro Scarlatti. In 1711, it takes again the direction of the opera to Naples, then goes to London in 1714. Under the protection of the Duke of Essex, it can teach and compose.In 1715, it interprets its Concerto S for violin with Georg Friedrich Haendel at the Court of London. After a visit in Paris, it resides at it long enough, to turn over in 1755 towards England. It occurs like virtuoso and as editor of a periodical of music - an activity in which it fails. Success is on the other hand with go with the sale of its own tables like those of Italian Masters.
In Dublin, in 1761, a servant conceals a musical manuscript to him; according to its close relations, contrariety to be stolen of its time and fruit of its work would have caused its premature death.
Work
- 42 concerti enlarged, opus 3 and 7, in which he adds the viola to the Concertino (soloists) (Ripieno = orchestra) for thus obtaining music for string quartet and orchestra. Thus it incorporates in it sonatas in trio of Arcangelo Corelli and Sonatas COp 5
- 26 Concertos for violin
- 24 Sonatas in trio for 2 violins and low continues
- Some sonatas for violin alone
- And many other lost works.
