Francesco Curradi (Florence, 1570 - Florence, 1661) is a painter Baroque of the school florentine, most important of painting excessively pious woman of first half of the 17th century.
In 1590, it is registered with the corporation of the painters to the Accademia dell' Arte del Disegno and its first work as independent painter is the Natività della Vergine in 1598 with the cathedral of Volterra with obvious analogies stylistics of the Reform like those of Jacopo Ligozzi and Santi di Tito, a late mannerism which it gives up then, at the beginning of the 17th century, for the style of Lodovico Cigoli and Passignano.
Its artistic maturity appears between 1610 and 1620, with its works of the Crucifixion and the Deposition for the Company San Niccolò del Ceppo in 1610, the Crocifissione idiot Sant' Agostino E I Dolenti with the cathedral of Volterra in 1611, the Sant' Eustachio for the convent San Domenico Al Moglio in 1612 and monumental the Assunzione della Vergine for the parish Santa Maria with Dicomano in 1613.
By attending Santa Maria Maddalena de' Pazzi, the character at the time more venerated and deep inspirer of the religious sensitivity of the century, he becomes the official portraitist about it by reproducing his effigy in many works.
Between 1616 and 1617, it is engaged with the contemporary painters florentins most known for the decoration of the Casa Buonarroti, where it carries out a fabric of the Renommée which raises Michel-Angel above the other painters .
As from this period, it carries out some of its works most famous, like the Predica di San Francesco Saverio agli Indiani (Sermon of San Francesco Saverio to the Indians) for the church San Giovannino degli Scolopi of Florence, in 1622, or the Narciso Al cast iron E Erminia FRA I pastori (also in 1622) financed by the cardinal Carlo di Ferdinando de' Medici to decorate the Casino Mediceo di San Marco, works which devote it artist of the court and considered as much for its profane subjects. It paints moreover seven tympanums on fabric with the Histoires of Marie-madeleine in the restored vault of the Villa Medicea di Poggio Imperiale.
Its style then does not change, not put aside a certain simplification of the compositions and an aspect more disorder of the colors employed.
Follow a Incoronazione della Vergine in 1646 for the romitorio of the cells of Paradisino of the Congrégation of Vallombreuse, other paintings with of the Saints Vallombrosiens (1648) and the Predica del Battista for the Rondoni vault in the church Saint Trinita in Florence in 1649.
He dies in his birthplace in 1661 and he is initially buried with the church of Saint Congratulated. He is then transferred in the tomb from family in the church San Michele and Gaetano from Florence.
