Francesco Cavalli
Francesco Cavalli , of its true name Pier Francesco Caletti-Browned (born the February 14th 1602 with Creamed, in the Province of Casement bolt, in Lombardy - died the January 14th 1676 with Venice) was a Compositeur and Italian Organiste. He had taken for pseudonym the name of noble Venetian which was its patron.
Biography
He became singer with the Basilique Saint-Marc of Venice in 1616, then second organist in 1639, first organist in 1665 and finally choirmaster in 1668. In spite of this long career of musician of church, it is especially known for its operas.It started to write for the lyric scene in 1639 ( Nozze di Teti E di Peleo ), and acquired very quickly a fame such as it was invited to Paris in 1660 to produce the opera Serse there. It returned besides to Paris in 1662, assembling the representation of sound Ercole amante in Louvre, this work having been written at the time of the marriage of Louis XIV. He died in Venice.
