Francesco Bassano the Young person , or Francesco Giambattista da Ponte (Bassano del Grappa, 1559 - Venice, 1592) is an Italian painter mannerist of the Venetian school.
It leaves to Venice to manage the family businesses.
It is tested with the painting of monumental history, by some works with the Palais of the Doges, but it gives up the kind after its failure in 1582 with the contest in which take part, inter alia considered painters, Zuccaro, Véronèse, Tintoret and Palma the Young person, to replace the Couronnement of the Virgin surrounded of the celestial hierarchies known as of the Paradise of Guariento di Arpo (1365) destroyed by a fire on December 20th, 1577. It leaves ex-æquo with Véronèse, but this last dies in 1588; the common fabric is not started and Bassano is regarded as being too young person and alone for this monumental work (22 m X 7 m).
It commits suicide with dead of his father in 1592. It is his/her Leandro brother who will take again his continuation.
Domenico Robusti and Tintoret will make its portrait.
