Lady Frances Amelia Yates (18991981) was a British historian.

She taught during several years at the Warburg institute within the University of London. The essence of its work concerns philosophy neoplatonist and the occultism to the Renaissance.

In precursory books, like Giordano Bruno and the Hermetic Tradition (1964) or the Art of the Memory (1966), it pays its attention on the central place played by the magic in the Science and the Philosophie at the dawn of modernity.

It integrated the Ordre of the British Empire in 1972 and was high with the row Lady To order in 1977.
