France Football (called “FF”) is twice-weekly (Tuesday and Friday) a French of Football created in 1946.

“France Football” is the heir to the “Football” of pre-war period (1895-1913). “FF” divides a time its title and its columns with “France official football”, official body of the FF. “Football” practiced pre-war period already thus by publishing all the decisions taken by the FF. “FF” takes its independence opposite with the FF the September 25th 1947 (number 79).

The sales progress regularly: approximately 120.000 per number in 1975, approximately 213.000 in 2004.

“FF” tried out the editions decentralized as of the years 1970, without success. “France Africa football” was the most carrying title, but it périclita like the others. To note that the specimens of the old numbers of FF vary from one area to another. The Parisian edition of “FF” thus proposed a very pointed follow-up on football francilien; it is not any more the case today. In order to better stick to the rich person topicality Football, the hebdo of Tuesday proposes from now on an edition of Friday, as it was already the case between 1974 and 1978. These numbers were green whereas the dominant color of the numbers of Tuesday was the orange. France foot 2 succeeded the supplement of Friday of “FF”, but was abandoned in 1982, a little less than five years after its creation. France Football of Friday is given to the last style the March 7th 1997 and is satisfied with a classification “(a)”, as that was also the case between 1974 and 1978.

“FF” acquired an international reputation by the quality and the exhaustiveness of its contents, but also, and especially, by the attribution (since 1955) of the Ballon of Gold France-Football, also known under the name of Trophée of the European footballer of the year abroad. This trophy is decreed with the player who received the most points at the conclusion of the vote of 51 journalists resulting from the 51 Member States from the UEFA and the director from the publication itself (the French voice). This trophy individual, most prestigious of world football, was reserved at the origin with the players of European nationality - what explains, for example, the absence of Diego Maradona of the list of its member elects. Since 1995, any player evolving/moving in a European championship is eligible. “FF” also structured the approach of national competitions with annual classifications for each category of actors of French football (better club, better referee, better trainer, better player of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, better directing, better club of young people, better recruitment…), in addition to “Gold Stars” rewarding the best players for the professional championships according to notes allotted to each day (there exists from now on a classification distinct for the guards and the players from field). “FF” also distinguishes the best French player from the year, which from now on is elected by a jury made up of the former winners of this trophy.

“FF” is “the” reference of football in France, but this title has obviously some defects. The machism is the first of them. One noted a puffing attempt in the middle of the years 1970 to propose a cover of the Championnat of France of female football and more generally of female football, but this effort côtoyait bloody articles against female football in the columns of the same FF. Today, nobody any more disputes (officially) the right of the girls to play foot in the columns of FF, but one must be satisfied with the gross profits of D1 Frenchwoman in female football. This simple example illustrates perfectly what was and what is “FF today”. Formerly “Bible of uncontested Football”, FF was even allowed to correct the errors of UEFA… Aujourd'hui, FF is satisfied to relay press releases of the same UEFA…

“FF” proposes since Tuesday February 20th 2007 (N°3176), a new formula with in particular two pages devoted to the programs TVS and two pages dedicated to the " culture foot" , subjects hitherto a41dernier $c-b1, e,10 $c-b26 ce $c-b16 $c-b43, bn,84 neglected by FF.

The record of sale to the number (source NMPP) dated July 14th, 1998, two days after the victory of the team of France finally of the World cup, with 520.000 sold specimens. Concerning the supplements of Friday, the best sale dated July 20th, 2001 with 228.900 specimens.

Star of gold

Trophy decreed at the end of each season per addition of points, or rather of stars allotted at the time of each match of championship of D1/L1. The gold Star rewards the most powerful and regular player for the season, without reference to nationality. The note maximum - but extremely rare - is 6 stars. Today, an expelled player is systematically credited with 0 star. Since the season a 1992-1993 specific classification is established for the goalkeepers.

French Player of the year

Trophy allotted to each civil end of the year by a vote of the drafting of France football. Until 1995, only the French players evolving/moving in France were eligible. Since 1996, the French players evolving/moving abroad are eligible. Since 2001, the former winners of the trophy appoint the player of the year.

National teams of the year

Each civil end of the year France Football establishes its continental assessments and designates the best national team by continent. The European classification is oldest (it was created in 1959).
