France Soir is a Quotidien general practitioner French created in 1944.

This newspaper was placed in file for bankruptcy with the end of the year 2005 and during the first quarter 2006. At the beginning of the month of February 2006, it was illustrated by publishing the series of caricatures of Mahomet which had been worth with the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten a sharp disapproval of the Muslim world. This action started again the polemic and involved the dismissal of the director of the publication Jacques Lefranc.

History

The time of Pierre Lazareff

This newspaper was created in November 1944 by Robert Salmon and Philippe Viannay, two old resistant. Pierre Lazareff, emblematic figure of the press, will become the historical director about it. It is him which had obtained the title on the ruins of Défense of France, and it will succeed in attracting beautiful signatures, like Joseph Kessel, Lucien Bodard, Henri de Turenne, Henri Amouroux, Philippe Labro, Paul Gordeaux… In his offices located at the time to the “100, Rue Réaumur in Paris”, surrounded by six secretaries, “Pierrot the straps” managed with the rod a drafting of more than 400 people.

The difficult recovery

Press Aliance, had by Poligrafici with height of 30  % and Ramy Lakah with 70  %, was put in suspension of payment Thursday October 27th 2005, since August, the newspaper did not appear more in the south of France, following a dispute with Riccobono printing works. Republication and current location

On Wednesday, June 7, 2006, France Soir reappears after more than one month and half of stop of diffusion. The one of the “n°1 of new France Soir”, drawn with 150.000 specimens, was made up of Mariah Carey, Guy Roux and of a title on the road safety.

It is also printed in five other printing works distributed on the French territory.

The newspaper prints several tens of thousands of specimens in 3 editions:

  • - an edition buckled with 20:30 (Nantes Nancy),

  • - an intermediate edition (for the distant sites of impression) towards 21:45
  • - and the “CTD” with 23:00.

The average pagination is of 40 pages tabloïd. The newspaper is carried out by a team of forty people installed with Paris in the 17 {{E}} district. According to the management of the firm, the development objectives were validated after new studies Marketing.

The France Soir mark remains known, primarily among the oldest people. According to the management of the firm, " there would be in France a broad place for a popular newspaper of qualité".
