France O is the television channel of the overseas in metropolitan France.

History of the chain

RFO Sat is created on March 25th 1998 by Jean-Marie Cavada, then president of RFO, to offer to the French overseas the, alive one in metropolis a window on their areas. The chain diffuses daily only a few hours each evening as from 9 p.m. on the cable and the satellite.

The February 25th 2005, Marc Tessier lance France O to replace RFO Sat which, with 9 hours of antenna only each day, managed with difficulty to play its part of window of overseas in metropolis.

Its new name refers to the group France Televisions to which is attached RFO since July 2004. The letter O like overseas, as the filiation which attaches the chain to network RFO and the circumflex accent to underline the opening of the chain to all the accents of the world.

Since September 24th, 2007, France O is diffused on TNT in Île-de-France like chains local on the R1 multiplexing.
