The National union of the organizations calling upon the generosity of the public (UNOGEP) is a trade union created in 1998, on an initiative of the Comité of the Charter. It defends the interests of the organizations calling upon the generosity of the public and promotes philanthropy in France.
The UNOGEP gathers an about sixty associations and foundations which call upon the gifts, legacy, patronage, sponsorship at the national level. Representative of the sector with nonlucrative goal, the trade union gathered in 2005, through its members, a budget operational of 2765 million euros of which 968 million came from private generosity.
The UNOGEP is exclusively financed by the contributions of its members.
In 2006, with the election of its new office, the UNOGEP took a new take-off.
The fall of the assistances provided by the State to the associative sector make generosity private a stake of crucial financing. The UNOGEP gets busy today to show that it is important to give and to inform on the advantages, in particular on the tax level, that the gift represents. But France is still far from knowing the spectacular philanthropic actions like the gift, the June 25th 2006, of 80% of the fortune of Warren Buffett with the Fondation Bill and Melinda Gates.
