François of the Manor house

Resulting from a Parisian family and a line of polytechnicians, François Etienne of the Manor house (known under the name of Ducastel ) entered with X during the war, in 1943. Its classification feels some which him leaves only the service of the buildings and transport, and it joined the regional management of the postal and telecommunications authorities of Rouen in 1949.

In 1951, it is affected with the National laboratory of Radioelectricity, with Bagneux. It is with the LNR that it starts to be interested in the propagation of the radio waves. The LNR being integrated into the National center of studies of telecommunications in 1954, it takes part in the creation of the department Propagation in the service of the transmissions. The tropospheric propagation and its applications to the forward-scatter radio-relay systems constitute the central theme of its research. In the interpretation of these new phenomena, it acquires with the team of the Hundred a good world famous, supported on original experiments, initially between the continent and Corsica, then in Africa. François of the Manor house translates this asset in a book published in 1960 in the Collection of the Hundred.

In 1959, it takes part in creation within the One hundred of a new department of space research , RSR. It takes an active share with all successes obtained, in particular as a person in charge of the project of Franco-Soviet satellite Roseau , first embarked computer satellite.

This big part in successes of the CRPE (laboratory common CENT-CNRS) is worth to him to be proposed by his/her colleagues geophysicists with the elections with the Section of astronomy and geophysics of the National center of the scientific research, section of which he is elected president in 1966. At the end of his mandate of president of section at CNRS, in 1971, the director of the Hundred proposes to him to take part in the scientific department of the center. In 1974, it is in charge of the responsibility for the Secteur components .

In 1977, it is in charge of a function of audit and then carries out a prospective reflection on telecommunications.

In 1981, following the effects on telecommunications of the change of majority, the managing director of telecommunications, Jacques Dondoux, plan with the minister Louis Mexandeau to make it name with the head of the Hundred; but finally, he will be only assistant editor.
