François de Bassompierre

François de Bassompierre , marquis d' Haroué, born the April 12th 1579, castle of Haroué in Lorraine and dead the October 12th 1646, is a Marshal of France, known as the marshal of Bassompierre .

Oldest son of Christophe de Bassompierre and Louise de Radeval, Lorraine gentleman, François de Bassompierre travels in Italy and in the Royaume of Naples   ; he then sets at the court of Henri IV. Saint-Simon reports that it owes the favor of Louis XIII with their common love of the chasse : Bassompierre is then the only gentleman authorized to blow in the horn of the king, because only able to do it without dribbling there. It is characterized by other exploits, like drinking with its own filled up wine boot.

It is distinguished in the majority from the wars which Henri IV and Louis XIII carry out, is named in 1614 general colonel of the Suisses and in 1622 Marshal of France. Louis XIII employs it in various embassies. He secretly marries Louise Marguerite of Lorraine, girl of Henri I {{er}} of Own way. Because of this alliance, and in spite of its services, Louis XIII, under the council of the Cardinal of Richelieu, the fact of arresting for plot and of imprisoning with the Bastille (1631): there remain 12 years there, and leaves there only to dead the king, in 1643; he dies of apoplexy at the duke of Vitry, in Brie, 1646.

Only the commun runs of the castle of current Haroué go back to Bassompierre. The marshal has his bust in the park of the village of Haroué.
