François d\' Agincourt

Jacques-Andre François d' Agincourt is a musician French, Clavecin ist and Organiste, born and died in Rouen (1684 - April 30th 1758). Its name is written also of Agincour , Dagincourt , Dagincour .

It was raises of Jacques Boyvin and Nicolas Lebègue; Organist of the church Holy-Madeleine-in-the-City to Paris, it is as from 1706, holder of the organ of the Cathédrale of Rouen in succession of Boyvin. It holds also the organ of the abbey Saint-Ouen, in this same city, and becomes in 1714 one of the four organists of the royal Chapelle (it was then preferred with Louis-Claude Daquin, more young person that him and who was to be named later). One of its pupils is Jacques Duphly.

Its written work includes/understands:

  • a collection of parts of Harpsichord appeared in 1733, which testifies to its admiration for Couperin (deceased the same year): like him, it calls “order S” its 4 continuations and privileges the portraits and parts of character compared to the traditional dances; however, its style is less melancholic person, more external.
  • a book of 46 parts for organ (grouped by “your”), remained with the state of manuscript.
  • two books of airs with low continuous.
