François Watrin

François Watrin , (born the January 29th 1772 with Beauvais (France) - died the November 22nd 1802 with Port-au-Prince (Haiti).

It is not twenty years old when it leaves, like private, in the Belgian Légion, which will become the 17 {{E}} regiment of hunters with horse.

  • 1793: becomes captain
  • 1794: with the Armée with North, adjudant general, then brigadier general
  • One of the officer generals who order, on board fleet of Brest, troops intended for the forwarding of Ireland
  • Armée with Sambre-and-Meuse. It is distinguished in the passing from the Rhine, with Neuwied
  • It accompanies the general Hédouville with Saint-Domingue
  • 1799: Armed with Italy. Named Major general. At the end of campaign, it is locked up, with Masséna, in the place of Genoa. Sent by this general attached to the French government to ask helps, it accompanies the new consul Bonaparte in his brilliant countryside by 1800
  • 1800: Countryside of Italy. Passage of the Saint-Bernard, citadel of Ivrée, Battle Marengo
  • 1802: Of return to Saint-Domingue, it dies there of the fevers at 30 years.

Distinctions

  • It belongs to the 660 personalities to have its name engraved under the Triumphal arch of the Star. It appears on the 6th column (the Arc indicates WATRIN ).
