François Rouan

French artist, born in 1943 with Montpellier, François Rouan lives and works in Saint-Maximin. Young boarder with the Villa Médicis, it there meets Balthus actively and engages, around the Sixties, in mobility " Supports/Surfaces " according to an insistence of the braiding which was worth to him the recognition of Jacques Lacan. Its current work, very prolific, carries it towards increasingly volatile materials, in particular by the photographic treatment of the print, prolonged by videographic re-registrations which give the opportunity to him to turn over to the table according to a reconsidered space, in variation, traversed speeds and fusions indédites. The stamp and the shell (with the so to speak typographical direction) develop to with it a complex interlacing and like labyrinthian. The colors enter in echo according to a species of mixing which makes think of the wings of the butterfly in their almost photogenic or mimetic relation in the medium.
