François Ricard is a essay writer and novelist Québécois which was born with Shawinigan the June 4th 1947. It took down a Maîtrise with the Université McGill, before going to make its doctorate at the university of Aix-en-Provence, which it obtains in 1971. He teaches the literatures Frenchwoman and Québécois in McGill since about thirty years.

Intellectual respected for his rigor and his clearness, it published many tests. Most famous is entitled the lyric Generation . Published in 1994, this treating book of the babies-boomers at the same time was disputed and admired. This test was quoted in the Topicality as being one of the “35 pounds which should be read to include/understand Quebec”.

In the francophonie, it is especially known as being the writer of the postfaces of Milan Kundera.
