François Prévost d\' Exmes
François Prévost d' Exmes , born with Exmes, the September 29th 1729 and died in Paris in September 1799, is a writer, Dramaturge and critical arts person French.
Passed in Lorraine to enter the bodyguards of Stanislas, king of Poland, François Prévost d' Exmes, which cultivated the letters successfully, was made known by a Ode which obtained a honourable mention with the Academy of Nancy. In the middle of the brilliant court of Lunéville, it felt to redouble its taste for the letters and it gave also two parts written with facility, the Three Rivals (1752) and the Reconciliation (1758), which were accepted from the public. Stanislas marked of it his satisfaction with the author and charged it with composing of the entertainments for the festivals with its court. It sent a Ode to the Academy of Nancy which granted a honourable mention to him. Encouraged by these tests, it left the service and turned over in Normandy, there Maria and fills the load of particular general lieutenant of the Viscount of Trun. Domestic sorrows determined it to be established with Paris where it gave Thessaliennes to the Italian . The cardinal of Rohan entrusted to him the administration of the incomes of an abbey in the Artois, but the loss of credit of this prelate in the Affaire of the collar of the queen removed her place to him. He then sought to create resources writing the Étrennes of the Parnassus , by translating works of English and by giving lessons of language and history. Having obtained a place of royal professor at the School of song which partly repaired the loss of its fortune that had absorbed several bankruptcies, the Révolution deprived it of this only resource and plunged it in most dreadful misery. Naturally timid, not daring to entrust its distress to his more intimate friends, he saw constrained in 1793 to be withdrawn with the old people's home of the Charity where he died six years later.
Author of a great number of dramatic compositions, some works of literary criticism, translations and biographical notes, François Prévost d' Exmes left to the three Rivals , opera comic; the new Reconciliation , comedy in an act, played on the theater of Lunéville; Thessaliennes , comedy in three acts, 1752. In his Rosel or the happy Man , one finds wise councils which a man gives to his son. There is still Vies of Lulli and Julien-the-King , inserted in the Nécrologe of the men of letters , Éléments of the Parnassus which it wrote during several years, Trésor of the foreign literature which had much success and which would have deserved to be continued. He also worked with the Journal of the spectacles and composed the words of Oratorio S for the concerts of sacred music. He had also worked with a Histoire of the war of 1779 of the Empereur of Austria against the Turks.
