François Pluchart (born the August 5th 1937 with Montmorency, Val-d'Oise - died the November 8th 1988) was a writer, Critic Journaliste and art French, which carried out face a great number of activities around the Contemporary art.

Biography

François Pluchart was all at the same time Journaliste, Essayiste, art Critic, Théoricien of the Corporal art, but also teacher (with the National school of decorative arts of Nice, with the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of art of Nancy and with the Sorbonne with Paris).

He began his Critic activity of art at the 22 years age, while beginning as artistic chronicler for the newspaper Combat , of which he will become director of the pages thereafter on Article His first texts are already impressed of a very personal tone and a vision of the topicality marked by the choice of the artists about which he speaks. The positions Libertaire S (even Gauchiste S ) of the newspaper enable him to affirm artistic choices generally going to counter-current of the ambient Académisme.

It defends with enthusiasm of the artists such as Jean Dubuffet, Jean-Pierre Raynaud, Bernard Balanci, Martial Raysse, Jean Piaubert, Peter Stämpfli or Léopold Survage, but is opposed to the École of Paris and to holding of the Lyric abstraction and of the néo-surrealist current . Privileged witness of the avant-garde S of the the Sixties and seventy, it sticks to what marks the time, which makes scandal. He assists the emergence of the Nouveau realism and of the Pop art for which he impassions himself. It is interested in the role and the social condition of the artist and the practice of those which pay an special attention to a disturbing reality “ ” and “ exciting ”, according to its own terms, which one often finds in his writings. He does not hesitate to denounce the censure and all the abuses political, social or institutional having milked with Article.

From 1968, François Pluchart starts to discover the practice of an art of the gesture, or of an art of the action which, as he writes it “opens on a way incomparably more fertile, that of the Corporal art. ” Pierre Restany and Otto Hahn encourages it in the writing and the assertion of an art according to painting , of an art of the body, elaborate in complicity with the artist Michel Journiac - that it defends because of the subversive character and the poetic energy which emerge from its work - since 1968. François Pluchart will be even punctually at the origin of certain actions of Michel Journiac, like that of the check or that of the referendum of April 27th, 1969 . This complicity with the artists (Michel Journiac, Herve Fischer, Gina Pane) encourages it to carry out a reflection critical and sociological in narrow symbiosis with their practices, of which it will deliver the fruit in the review ArTitudes , that it creates in 1971 and who will appear until September 1977.

These artists, but also Vito Acconci, the artists of the Actionnisme Viennese or Ben illustrate, according to him, the “passage to the body diagram, the body used like artistic material. ” They gather the elements of this body diagram , perceived like a radical gesture, which “wants all at the same time to modify the shape, the significance and the range of the work of art, to transform the cultural place and to create the bonds of a true collective participation. ”

At the beginning of the Years 1980, François Pluchart deals with the realization of the magazine alive Art , attempt to start again the review Chroniques of alive art published 1968 with 1975) under the direction of Jean Clair and financed by the Galerie Maeght. It is in April 1984 which Adrien Maeght entrusts to him the drafting of alive Art , but the fragile financial health of this type of publication will not make it possible to go beyond the twelfth number, and the review will definitively cease appearing during the summer 1985.

François Pluchard is deceased the November 8th 1988, at the 51 years age.
