François Patriat , born the March 21st 1943 with Semur-in-Auxois (Coast-with Or), is a Politician French.

Since the April 2nd 2004, he is president of the District council of Burgundy, function in which he succeeded Jean-Pierre Soisson, after the victory of its list to the regional elections the March 28th.

Veterinary surgeon of formation (it left major its promotion), François Patriat militates since 1974 with the PS after having left, in company of Michel Rocard, PSU.

National Assembly

He was elected appointed Coast-in Or for the first time in June 1981, being presented in the form of a dissenting candidate against the candidate MRG supported by his party. He was some time excluded from the Socialist party before being registered like related then being finally reinstated.

He was re-elected (with proportional) in March 1986, then in June 1988 (with the uninominal system).

He was beaten in March 1993, elected again in June 1997 then beaten again in June 2002.

  • General adviser of Coast-of Or, canton of Pouilly-in-Auxois (since 1976;
  • regional adviser of Burgundy (1981 - 1986 and since 2004).

  • socialist Chief candidate the March 28th 2004, its list obtained 52,49% of the votes cast, vis-a-vis the list UMP (led by Jean-Pierre Soisson, 32,14%) and with the list FN (led by Pierre Jaboulet-Vercherre, 15,37%).

Governmental functions

  • October 18th, 2000: Secretary of State to the Small and medium-size companies, the Trade, the Craft industry and Consumption in the Government Lionel Jospin
  • February 25th, 2002: Minister for Agriculture and Fishing in this same government

Other functions

  • Member of the Economic and Social Council in 1993 - 1994
  • Administrator of the inland Waterways of France since 1998, where it chairs the territorial Commission of the channels and rivers of the Center
  • July 1999: responsible for a mission on hunting, near the minister of environment and of Town and country planning (Dominique Voynet)
