François Pairault (1940 -) is aggregate university, arts doctor and professor of modern history at the University of Limoges.

Specialist in the political and social history of the Bonapartism, it supported a thesis of State in modern history on the baron Eugene Eschassériaux (1823-1906), politician Bonapartist of Charente-Lower (today Charente-Maritime).

He devoted several years to the study of new files, preserved by the descendants of Gaspard Monge, founder of the Polytechnic school.

François Pairault is member of the Academy of Angoumois. He during many years was also elected of the town of Angouleme (Charente), where he in particular exerted the functions of assistant of the Mayor in charge of the Culture.

He is the father of the writer Louis-Gilles Pairault.
