François Marty

François Marty , (May 18th 1904, Pachins - February 16th 1994, Monteils), was a dignitary of the Roman Catholic church, old cardinal - Archevêque of Paris.
It is born with Pachins, close to Vaureilles (Aveyron), in a family of farmers, and is baptized Gabriel, Auguste, François . In 1917, it returns to the small seminar of Villefranche de Rouergue. In 1923, after a voyage to Heavy with his/her father, it makes the decision to return to the great seminar.
Mgr Charles Challiol, bishop of Rodez, orders it priest the June 28th 1930 in the cathedral. In July 1932, appointed vicar with Villefranche de Rouergue. Then in 1933, it is named with the parish Saint-Mercies of Rodez. Of 1939 with 1940, period of the Second world war, it is mobilized. On its return, it becomes cleaned with Bournazel, then in 1943 with Rieupeyroux. In 1948, he becomes archpriest of Millau following the death of this last. In 1951, he is general vicar of Rodez.
February 6th 1952, it is named with the évêché of Saint-Flour. It is Mgr Marcel Marie Dubois, bishop of Rodez, which orders it bishop on May 1st, 1952. Then on December 14th, 1959, it is named coadjutor of the archbishop of Rheims, Mgr Louis-Augustin Marmottin. It receives titulature of archbishop of Hemesa. With died of Mgr Marmottin, on May 9th, 1960, it becomes archbishop of Rheims. It is there, in Rheims, the July 17th 1962 which it receives the Général de Gaulle and the German chancellor Konrad Adenauer at the time of a meeting for peace between the two countries. In 1965, it is named prelate of the Mission of France.
March 26th 1968 it becomes archbishop of Paris. It is high with the rank of cardinal of the Roman church, the April 28th 1969. In 1971, it goes to Jerusalem. In 1980, it accommodates the pope Jean-Paul II visits some in France. It bids its farewell in Paris, the January 31st 1981. It is the cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger who succeeds to him.
As of the February 28th 1981, it is withdrawn in the Aveyron, with Monteils with the convent of the Dominican ones. In 1994, it dies tragically, grabbed by a train, with a level crossing, in the Citroen 2CV that the catholics of Paris had offered to him for its departure.
Anecdote : he would have declared by receiving in starting gift this 2CV: “ it will lead me to the paradise ”, and he is deceased in his car.
