HE becomes president of the Christian Labor movement of Brussels in 1974 then national Christian Labor movement (Brussels and Wallonia) in 1988 and remains it until 2006.

The Christian Labor movement was detached in years 1970 from the exclusive bonds to the Parti social-Christian (French-speaking) as soon as it belongs to his frameworks. Itself is close to the democratic Front of the French-speaking people and the Walloon Rassemblement until the beginning of the year 1980. He pled in October 1979 in front of Wallonia Libre in a congress at this meeting in Brussels for what one calls the Wallobrux is a territorial entity including/understanding Wallonia, 19 common inhabitants of Brussels except the fraction of the territory of Brussels functionally related to the role of capital of the Belgium.

Its engagements in the Walloon Mouvement are related to the ideal of the Rassemblement of the progressists which so strongly works the left in this time. The efforts of François Martou succeeded in the sense that in 2004, in particular, Christiane Vienna, militant of the Christian Labor movement became socialist minister for the Walloon Gouvernement in 2004. Him-mêrme on the senatorial list of the PS to the elections of June 2007 will be presented.

Left " coupole" becoming the gathering place of the various Christian organizations with social vocation (mutual insurance companies, trade unions, JOC), the Christian Labor movement for a long time exerts a real influence in the Belgian political life, in particular in Wallonia and with Brussels. It is this influence which also its president during a 18 years will exera mandate, expressing itself moreover ern more on left cleavage right-hand side/rather than on the Community problems, as it did it at the beginning. It rejected in 1983 the ideas of the Manifeste for the Walloon culture by being expressed in particular in the new review, January 1984, under the title Wallonia! Walloons us! .
