François Lionnais

François Lionnais (October 3rd 1901 with Paris - March 13rd 1984 with Boulogne-Billancourt, France) is a Mathématicien enthusiast of Littérature, doubled of a writer impassioned Science S.

Celebrate at the same time for its book on the Remarkable Nombres and the foundation of the Oulipo, Engineer and Chimiste of formation, he was also founder and president of the Association of the Scientific Writers of France , Régent of the Collège of' Pataphysique, specialist in the Jeu of failures and producer of a radio program Science walks from there on France Culture. Its knowledge literary, musical or pictorial and mathematical, led it to gather artists and researchers around sewing rooms in which a subject X would be covered only under one aspect Potentiel and where creations would be done under Contrainte S.

Inside this “general Or-X-Po” ( Or to vroir of X Po tentielle), it founds the Oulipo with Raymond Queneau concerning the Li ttérature, then Oulipopo for the Li ttérature Po licière, the Oupeinpo for the pein ture, and with No5el Arnaud (which will succeed to him the presidency of Oulipo and the destinies of Ouxpo) provides the foundations of what will become Oucuipo for the cui sine. He dies in 1984 leaving innumerable projects outstanding. It is only in 1991 with creation, by Stanley Chapman, of the Outrapo for the will tra gicomédie in particular, and all the performing arts in general, that Ouxpo will take a new rise.
