François Lemoyne or François the Monk , born in 1688 with Paris where he died the June 4th 1737, was a painter Rococo French.
At 13 years, in 1701, it enters to the royal Académie of painting and sculpture. It studies there under the direction of Louis Galloche and remains there until 1713. Received as members of the Academy in 1718, it is elected there professor in 1733. Its work and its talent, in particular exerted with Versailles make of him the “new Brown the”. He works with other artists of the time like Donat Nonotte, Gilles Dutilleul, Charles of the Pit or Coypel. But the excess of work and the death of his wife make it insane. It commits suicide in 1737. With him the fashion disappears from the large allegorical ceilings.
