François Hanriot (born with Nanterre the December 3rd 1759 - died with Paris the July 28th 1794) is a French soldier and politician.
Its antecedents were far from being advisable, because it is claimed that it was continued and condemned for vol. Remis in freedom, Hanriot did not follow no well defined occupation when occurred the day of August 10th, 1792. It mixed with the rioters, entered with them to Tileries and played then an odious part during the Massacres of September.
After the day of May 31st, 1793, the Commune of Paris named it commander-in-chief of the armed force. That which one called La she-ass with Robespierre because of his sympathy to the political leader benefitted from this situation to make many abuses and to protect the atrocious acts and violent one from the Mountain dwellers.
The military career was of short duration, since he wanted the Thermidor 9 to go against Convention. Obliged to take refuge with the Town hall, it was stopped there. According to certain disputed historical theses, Hanriot would have been unable to order its men to defend the Town hall - where Robespierre and its entourage had taken refuge - because of its state of intoxication. Jean-Baptiste Coffinhal, made indignant, seizes it with strength and launched it by the window on a heap of manure close to a sewer while shouting to him: " Coward! It is you who lost us! ".
Fouquier-Tinville, president of the Revolutionary Tribunal, noted its identity, which condemned it to death. It was guillotine on July 28th, 1794 in company of the other robespierrists.
