François Guéroult
François Guéroult , born the August 4th 1745 with Rouen and dead the December 12th 1804 with Fountain-Guérard is a architect French.
Entered strong young person at the art school directed to Rouen by Jean-Baptiste Descamps, François Guéroult obtained, by his intelligence and his application to work, the price of architecture. Most honourable successes having constantly crowned its studies in art to build, Guéroult conquered in its birthplace, of which it was named architect, a reputation that the important ones and many work fully justified. He made build on his plans all the right-sided of the street of Crosne and the theater started in 1773 and finished in 1776.
In October 1787, the river of Robec, grown bigger by great storms and continual rains, being overflowed, removed part of its slopes. The disasters which could about it result for the town of Rouen woke up the attention of the Administration of National Forestry Commission and the municipal officers. The mayor of Rouen, Gouteulx, made divert the river of his current, in order to be opposed to his invasion while, on its side, Guéroult was charged to find the means of returning water to the city and of curing the considerable damage promptly that its absence caused with the manufacturers and the manufacturers established along this river. Stopping in the least expensive plan and most expeditious, Guéroult made build in three days a box of one hundred eight feet length, intended to be used as artificial bed for the river. The valves having been raised, water took again its usual course by means of this clever construction which made it possible to repair the damage caused with the slope by the overflow.
Guéroult still made build, with little time from there, a building for the spinning mill, most roomy which one saw hitherto, with Louviers. At the same time, it built with Rouen, street of Bellegarde, today street of Contract-Social, a room of horse-gear and gave plans for the embellishment of the wearing of Rouen, plans whose events of Révolution prevented the execution.
Disgusted stay of its birthplace, because of some civil disorders which started to ferment there, Guéroult was withdrawn, in 1791, with Fountain-Guérard, where it builds vast workshops of spinning mill that itself exploited with much intelligence.
